Powerful Jedi Is She

Here I am with my buddy, Yoda. To mix things up for a change, we went to Star Wars in Concert at the Bradley center tonight. We were able to get tickets through Joe's connection with the MSOE Alumni Association for more than half off the normal ticket prices of well over $100 each. While this multi-media production was cool, it would not have been worth the real price. We arrived about an hour early to walk around and see the original characters from the the series - some were models in glass cases and some were real human beings in costume. Every single person had a camera, vying for photo op with their favorite galactic character. With crowds in a half moon formation surrounding their chosen creature, mad dashes were made to be the next to be photographed. It reminded me of of trying to time when to jump between the two ropes in double dutch. Since I'm an aggressive person, I made my dash to Chewy & Yoda quickly - beating out little kids and adults alike, while it took Joe longer to dive into a scene with R2D2. The concert featured a live orchestra, supported by a full choir, playing numerous scores from all 6 Star Wars films, the evening was hosted and narrated by the actor who played C3PO, while a large screen provided brief video excerpts that summarized the gist of the story, as laser lights added another dimension to the performance. And the best thing of all? The show was over by 8:30, and we were homeand ready to chill by 9:00.
